Whether creating unique interiors for a loft residence in New York, an ocean front estate in Malibu or a mountainside retreat in Aspen, Kuriger fashions a delicate balance between daring international design and the restraint of American understated elegance. Denise Kuriger is as comfortable hashing over complex details with a stone mason as she is at narrowing in on a sumptuous fabric on the 14th floor of the D&D Building. Whether contemporary or traditional, her work can be best defined as clear and principled, always custom in its execution, with well-resolved details throughout.
Denise Kuriger spent her first 15 years in interior design supporting the industry's most prestigious design firms, including Naomi Leff & Associates and Victoria Hagan Interiors. 2005 was a break out year for the talented designer with the launch of her own firm, Denise Kuriger Design Ltd. (DKD), based in New York's SOHO district. She is currently managing residential and commercial projects across America.
Kuriger is a native of Long Island, a microcosm of well-heeled America, where she was inspired early on its stately American-classic homes, manicured lawns and envious proximity to the East End of Long Island. Her multithreaded life is interwoven with international sensibilities, embodied in the values of her French-Canadian mother and Swiss-born Father, both tremendous forces in her life. Denise is a BFA graduate of the Old Westbury Campus of New York Institute of Technology, with a major in Interior Design.
